Established in February 1963, Delta Sigma Chi is the oldest fraternity on the Pitt-Johnstown campus and the third oldest local fraternity in the United States. The fraternity’s official colors are orange and black. The brothers annually work with the Special Olympics and have recently begun supporting . Established in 1963, the Delta Sigma Chi Fraternity has been an integral part of campus life at both the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and the Oakland campus. This site was developed to aid our brothers and friends of our fraternity in communication.
The year was 1963... Bob Dylan had a hit with "Don't think twice, it's all right", J.F.K. was the President, and Jeep had just introduced the J-Series to the public. Little Roger Benford was running for president of the 5th grade and Steve Walters, at age 11, would attend his first horserace. A clandestine meeting was held at Mrs. McCartney's home in Westmont, an affluent section of Johnstown, PA. Such subversive activities in those times could easily catch the eye of various government agencies. It was the 23rd night of January that our seven founding fathers met and formed what would become the alpha chapter of the Delta Sigma Chi Fraternity. |
