Pitt-Johnstown President Jem Spectar crowned Cernic at a ceremony held Saturday, Sept. 29 in the gazebo at the campus’ University Square. Cernic, a senior civil engineering technology major from Johnstown, was sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Members of the Queen’s court are: first runner-up Jessica Repovz, a senior psychology and nursing major from Yukon, sponsored by Kappa Zeta; Ashlyn Ahearn, a senior early childhood education major from Pittsburgh, sponsored by Alpha Sigma [Alpha] and Delta Chi tied for second runner-up with Jessica Tardio, a senior biology major from Pittsburgh, sponsored by the Pitt-Johnstown Dance Ensemble; and fourth runner-up Sierra Lasko, a senior biology major from Mt. Pleasant, sponsored by Phi Sigma Sigma.
Pitt-Johnstown’s 2012 Homecoming weekend, which is the culmination of the schools 85th anniversary celebration, kicked off Friday evening with a fireworks display on the campus mall and a live performance by the band Shades of June. The weekend also included the annual Homecoming parade followed by a performance by Pitt-Johnstown’s own “mad scientist” David Willey, Delta Chi, and a live zoo.
