The President’s Staff Award for Excellence in Service to the Community is meant as a companion award to the Staff Award for Excellence in Service to UPJ, which has been awarded each year since 1999.
President Albert L. Etheridge said, “The Award for Excellence in Service to UPJ will continue to recognize staff members whose commitment and dedication to UPJ have made a significant organizational impact. The Award for Excellence in Service to the Community will recognize staff members whose work has gone beyond the boundaries of the UPJ campus and made a significant impact on the community.
“I believe that the creation of these two awards sends a clear message to the UPJ community that the extraordinary efforts of staff are worthy of recognition and reward, and are greatly appreciated.”
The criteria for the community service award include: a consistent pattern of voluntary service of significant importance to the Greater Johnstown community, the local community and/or professional organizations internally, locally, regionally, nationally or internationally; contributions to the success of the staff member’s home unit, and working collaboratively with colleagues to further the interests and progress of UPJ.
All full-time, classified and union staff members with a minimum of five years of service at UPJ are eligible; previous recipients of the President’s Staff Award for Excellence in Service are not eligible.
The award will be presented at the annual staff luncheon held each December. The winner receives $1,000 and an engraved clock.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from the staff excellence award link on the UPJ home web page (www.upj.pitt.edu).
Completed nomination forms should be submitted to Andrea Leibfreid, chair of the selection committee, 104 Krebs Hall, by Oct. 17.
