Goenner was recognized at the annual Johnstown staff luncheon Dec. 18. She was awarded a certificate, a $1,000 cash award and an engraved mantle clock with the University seal.
On staff at UPJ since 1985, Goenner has served as executive assistant to the campus president since 1994.
She is active in the UPJ Campus Association, the Staff Activities and Concerns Association (SAC), Friends of the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center and the Phi Kappa Phi campus chapter. In addition, she serves as secretary to the UPJ Advisory Board.
Her community activities include volunteering at the Greater Johnstown/Cambria County Chamber of Commerce, the Easter Seals Advisory Council, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the American Heart Association and the annual Salvation Army Project Bundle-Up. She also is a member of the Parish Council at the First United Methodist Church in Johnstown.
According to Robert Knipple, president of the Johnstown SAC who chaired the staff award evaluation committee, supporting materials for Goenner included praise for her dedication, optimism and extra effort in support of the Johnstown campus.
In announcing the award, UPJ President Albert L. Etheridge said, “Each year the candidates recommended by the committee are exceptionally strong. The winner this year certainly embodies the spirit of service at UPJ to which we all aspire.”
